November 2nd is right around the corner! Your student has been working so hard mornings, afternoons, and at home to make this production the very best it can be. They have come such a long way and I hope you are excited to see what they have achieved.
Since this is many people’s first experience with the UIL One Act Play contest I want to try and clarify all details about our tech week, the contest day itself, and what comes after.
In this packet there is a schedule for tech week Oct. 25-29, a day-of itinerary for the field trip-contest on Nov. 2nd, and the rehearsal calendar for the weeks leading up to the Nov. 18th and 19th performances at Paredes. Also included in this packet is a permission slip for the field trip which must be signed and returned no later than Friday Oct. 29th and a suggested list of things to bring with them on Nov. 2nd.
If you are able, we are still accepting snack, water, and money donations to go towards snacks and meals for the days students stay late at school.
Lastly, we will be performing at the UIL contest at 5:30p sharp on Nov. 2nd and the tickets are free. Come out to the AISD Performing Arts Center to show your support for Paredes Theatre!
I am sure you will have more questions as we move forward so please make sure you have authorized Talking Points notifications on your personal device since that is how I will be updating parents on the day of. In the event of an emergency I have also given my personal phone number and Mrs. Anstey’s, our other teacher chaperone, on the Day of Itinerary.

El 2nd de noviembre está a la vuelta de la esquina. Su estudiante ha estado trabajando tan duro mañanas, tardes, y en casa para hacer esta producción lo mejor que puede ser. Han recorrido un largo camino y espero que estén emocionados de ver lo que han logrado.

Dado que esta es la primera experiencia de muchas personas con el concurso UIL One Act Play, quiero tratar de aclarar todos los detalles sobre nuestra semana tecnológica, el día del concurso en sí y lo que viene después.

En este paquete hay un horario para la semana tecnológica del 25 al 29 de octubre, un día de itinerario para el concurso de viajes de campo el 2nd de noviembre, y el calendario de ensayos para las semanas previas a las actuaciones del 18th y 19th de noviembre en Paredes. También se incluye en este paquete una hoja de permiso para el viaje de campo que debe ser firmada y devuelta a más tardar el viernes 29th de octubre y una lista sugerida de cosas que traer con ellos el 2nd de noviembre.

Si puede, todavía estamos aceptando donaciones de bocadillos, agua y dinero para ir a refrigerios y comidas para los días que los estudiantes se quedan hasta tarde en la escuela.

Por último, actuaremos en el concurso UIL a las 5:30p en punto el 2 de noviembre y las entradas son gratuitas. ¡Ven al Centro de Artes Escénicas AISD para mostrar tu apoyo al Teatro Paredes!

Hi parents! Today I am sending a letter home for you with your student. Here was that letter in case you misplace it or never received it.

We are now at a half-way mark from competing in the UIL One Act Play contest on November 2nd! There are a few things I want to remind you of as we move forward to our opening.

Attendance is essential! If one of us is absent, the rest of us take one step backwards. Theatre is a team effort and we need all involved students present as much as possible. Students and parents were asked to sign commitment agreements and turn in all conflicts with rehearsals up-front.

If your student will not be able to attend rehearsals please let Ms. East or have them inform Dakota, our stage manager, as soon as possible. Conflicts should be communicated at least 2 weeks in advance.

Our tech week is Oct. 25 - Oct. 29th. All students must be in attendance at rehearsals from 4:00p - 7:00p. A ride or carpool must be arranged.

On Sunday Oct. 10th there will be a required acting and tech rehearsal from 10:00am - 4:00pm. A sandwich lunch with snacks will be provided but students are allowed to pack their own lunch as well.

If you are able to donate waters, gatorades, or any other bottled drinks or snacks such as individually wrapped chips or cookies it would help us to save as much department money as possible for meals during tech and on the contest day. Feel free to send those donations with your student at any point.

If you haven’t already joined Talking Points, please do! This will be how I contact parents on the contest day and during tech week. Having you on Talking Points is extremely important for your child’s safety on field trips.

Hola padres! Hoy te envío una carta a casa con tu alumno. Aquí estaba esa carta en caso de que la extraviara o nunca la recibiera.

¡Ahora estamos a medio camino de competir en el concurso UIL One Act Play el 2 de noviembre! Hay algunas cosas que quiero recordarles a medida que avanzamos hacia nuestra apertura.

¡La asistencia es esencial! Si uno de nosotros está ausente, el resto de nosotros da un paso atrás. We had a successful second week of rehearsals! Parents, please help remind your students to communicate their conflicts with rehearsals at least 2 weeks in advance. We had several absences this week that we were able to work around, but everyone's attendance is CRUCIAL. This week we began staging the show, talked about what our set will look like, and began organizing our prop and costume storage. We also had Meet The Teacher Night and a parent informational meeting for the UIL production. Please make sure you have enrolled in Talking Points- the AISD approved communication service that you can customize based on your language and personal preferences. The information shared as well as the Talking Points sign-up codes can be found on the "After School" page of this website. It was wonderful to meet some of you parents! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any other questions or concerns you may have.

¡Hemos tenido una segunda semana exitosa de ensayos! Padres, por favor ayude a recordar a sus estudiantes que comuniquen sus conflictos con los ensayos por lo menos con 2 semanas de anticipación. Tuvimos varias ausencias esta semana que pudimos trabajar alrededor, pero la asistencia de todos es CRUCIAL.
